My Favorite Lunch Date

My recent mornings have been filled with phone calls, emails, curriculum and trouble-shooting... I'm not complaining... I love my job... it just makes me savor the time I have to spend focusing on my kids. This morning my mother took Zoey so that I could go to lunch with Isaac. We played at Chuck-E-Cheese and ate at Panera. You should have seen Isaac's face when I told him he could choose anything he wanted to eat behind the counter (Thank you Shannon for the gift card!). He choose the biggest cookie he could find. I love my date days with this boy!I take so many pictures of Isaac, he finally grabbed the camera and took one of me!

Where's Spring?

I have been planning a "Spring Day" since the 1st day of Spring, but because of our busy schedules it was delayed a bit. I thought today would be the perfect day to focus on spring, especially since we were outside all weekend... unfortunately we had to make some last minute adjustments, since there is snow on the ground!!!

Isaac loved the idea of putting his M&M's on a cake.Isaac painting his flower pots to hold his paintbrushes and colored pencils.Didn't they turn out cute? I might make some for myself!Isaac was determined to make 2 smaller cakes for his daddy to eat later. He is now enjoying his butterfly sammies watching Hermie. As soon as he's done we are heading to the library to get books on spring!

The Perfect Remedy

We had such a wonderful get-a-way this weekend. Family and fresh air was all I needed! Chris and I decided that we are going to seek employment as professional vacationers... let us know if you hear of an opening.

Chris was bummed when we saw this sign... he was so excited to finally rev up the REVO with Isaac! (that's his gas powered remote control car)
Chris' quote of the weekend:
Isaac was slightly disturbed by the fact that his stick broke, to which Chris responded, "They are all broken, buddy, that's why they call 'em sticks!"

Camping with Cheetos

I think if Isaac were stranded on a deserted island and he could only take 2 things with him, he would bring his dad and a bag of cheetos. I bought a bag of cheetos to bring with us camping this weekend (actually they are "crunchy cheese curls"- a 3 year old doesn't need name brands!) and Isaac has been asking about them all week. I've been telling him that he can't eat them till we go camping, so every morning since he wakes up saying, "we go camping today? bring the cheetos?"

my girl

Chris and Isaac went up to East Lansing to see Parkway play in the semi-finals tonight, so Zoey and I went out on the town! It was such a wonderful, relaxing night... one I haven't had in awhile, and I enjoyed every second of it! This girl steals my heart!

How many kids did I want?

The Pinewood Derby

I bought this wooden race car kit at Michaels yesterday, and Isaac was so excited to paint and build it with his dad. They spent quite a bit of time making sure it was just right. Now off to the races!
(For those interested, Michaels has quite of few of these wooden kits for only $1 and they are so much fun. They have helicopters, planes, trains, bird houses and a ton more! We found ours by the unfinished wood section)

Dr. Isaac C. Bunk

Isaac: I wanna be a doctor
Me: That's a great idea, buddy, why?
Isaac: Because I want to listen to the heart
(He is obsessed with the DR listening to his heart)
Me: Why do you want to listen to the heart?
Isaac: Because Jesus is in there and I want to find him!

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

It's been a little more difficult to catch our activity days on camera, but here are a couple of pictures of our Day of Transportation. Isaac loved painting his ceramic cars!

We're going camping now, we're on our way...

Chris and I were just talking about getting out of here for a weekend to go camping in the near future. I'm already thinking campfires, s'mores, snuggling in the camper, treasure hunts, grill outs, star gazing, long breakfasts, and much, much more. I LOVE camping! It's one of the few times that I can really put my mind at ease and enjoy my surroundings and the people I love the most.
So my question to you is...
WHAT HELPS YOU RELAX?

Sunday Evening with Friends

Tonight we spent some time with our friends, the Heads, and had a great time grilling steaks and drinking coffee. Some people are just inspiring to be around, and this family is definitely in that category for us!

Here are the boys playing cars. It's a special bond they have.
The boys dancing to the ending credits of "Bolt"
Isaac and Zoey enjoying the movie (except for the fact that their mom kept flashing her camera in their face!)
Connor and Zoey hanging out.
They entertained each other for quite a while.

3 years and counting...

We just got home from Isaac's 3-year check-up, and boy was it a trip! The best part was when they had Isaac do an eye exam with different pictures. They showed him a + and he said "that's the cross that Jesus died on", and then they showed him a tea cup and he said "that's mama's coffee." The worst part was when we got all set in the room and Isaac announced he had to go potty. So I rush him down to the bathroom, with Zoey in my arms and while I'm trying to hold him on the big potty (without getting sprayed) and having Zoey yelling in my arms, the nurse knocks on the door and asks if I can get some of it in a cup. Are you kidding? By that time it was too late anyways. All in all, Isaac is a very healthy, short little boy and he loves going to the doctor!

Here is a funny video I took while we were waiting for the DR to come in. You can never predict what your kids are going to say!

Time with Gma and Papa

Our little opera girl

Zoey has this scream she does whenever she is excited. It is so high pitched that we all plug our ears when we hear it coming. You can even hear Isaac in the background screaming back at her... he does that often.

Working @ the car wash

I was giving Zoey a quick bath in the sink and it seemed to catch Isaac's eye. He asked me if he could have a car wash with all his cars. I thought that would be a wonderful idea, since I had to go and feed Zoey anyways.About 20 minutes in, I heard him say from the kitchen, "I have to go potty." I told him to wipe his hands and climb down, to which he replied, "never mind." I knew that couldn't be good. When I ran into the kitchen, this is what I found.
(In his defense, he did run to the bathroom to go right after I took him out, so he might have been holding it... we'll just hope)

I did it again!!!!

Remember THIS POST? Well, last night I got myself a cup of water and was walking past the computer to the couch and I tripped. Yes... I dumped the whole cup of water on the laptop! Chris didn't say a word last night as he worked on it to dry it out, but I can pretty much bet I know what he was thinking. I am posting on it this morning, so no damage was done, but I am reflecting on the fact that my husband puts up with me no matter how crazy I make him! I am going to go ahead and put last night on my "not so bright" list. Please comment to me something you did this week that was "not so bright" so that I can show my husband I am not the only crazy one!

Giraffes!!!

Today we spent Isaac's birthday in 55 degree weather at the Detroit Zoo. Isaac was only concerned with finding the giraffes and holding the map. We had a wonderful time and are going to enjoy spending a lot of time there this summer thanks to an amazing birthday gift!
