Has it only been 2 years?

Who knew 2 years ago, that this...
would turn into this...Zoey, you are the joy of our lives. I can barely remember my life without you... although I know it included much less high pitched screaming and less kisses on my cheek. Happy Birthday beautiful girl. We love you more than you will ever know!

Our Lip-Syncing Little Lady

For some reason Zoey started lip-syncing to her tea pot song today.
I just thought it was cute enough to post...

Q&A

I was sent an email from a friend with a list of fun questions in it. I love finding out more about people and thought I would try it here. If you are reading this post right now, pick one question out of the bunch and answer it in my comments....
  1. What is one thing you miss about being a child?
  2. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
  3. What is your craziest phobia?
  4. What is the greatest invention in your lifetime?
  5. If you could live anywhere in the world for one year, all expenses paid, where would you choose?
Let the fun begin...

The Simple Joys...

Last year I made some alphabet hearts with some left over craft materials I had from Mother's Day. I completely forgot about them until I rummaged thru Zoey's closet this afternoon. It was so fun to watch the kids play... Isaac was so excited to spell words, until he realized there was only one of each letter and he couldn't spell out his name. Zoey was very adamant on stacking all the pinks and wanted to make sure I saw that it looked like a flower when she was done. After a couple of minutes, I heard Isaac say to his sister, "Zoey, let me do all the work, I'm a boy. You can just cheer for me." Zoey was happy to do so and for the next 10 minutes all I heard was "GO Isaac! GO Isaac!" Oh the simple joys of motherhood!

the joys of cell phones

I was going thru my phone last night and found some pictures I had completely forgotten about. Each one has a story and although most people wouldn't probably find them interesting, they make up some of the memories of our family...

CoLoRs

I walked into Zoey's room and had a slight shock... she was sorting out all her colors and telling me what they were. When Isaac was 1, I was constantly teaching him his colors and having him match things; with Zoey, on the other hand, I have pretty much been in pregnancy-survival mode and forgot she was old enough to learn them, or even well past-due. I'm sure it's influence by her grandmothers and school, but it was the weirdest thing for me to see. Good job, Zo!

holy hormones, batman!

Well, it's about that time... my hormones are WaCkEd out! I sent Chris a text yesterday that said "Isaac dumped juice all over the floor... I can't stop crying." I keep thinking that I need to pull it together, but then I start becoming even more emotional because of my failure to do so. It's crazy! At least I can laugh about it through my tears because of how ridiculous I feel. The great thing about this time is that I am also having that nesting feeling. I want to clean and purge EVERYTHING! (I hope I don't have too many Salvation Army donation regrets after the baby is born) I overheard Chris telling the kids the other night, "Mommy is 'nesting,' so stay out of her way." When Isaac asked what that meant, he said, "just like a mommy bird makes a nest for her babies and gets it all ready and nice for them." Isaac just laughed and said that was weird.
I don't think things would be so bad if I could bend over to pick things up without moaning, or if Zoey could sit on my lap without doing a back-bend... but this is the phase right now, and I am trying to remember to embrace it. In 5 weeks the pregnancy will be over and I will be shot into the newborn phase again... with a preschooler and a toddler at my heels. Lord, give me strength!

Stolen "Artsy Fun"

My kids were begging me to do a project today and I was dumbfounded on what to do. I had some bigger projects planned for the fall, but wasn't really prepared to pull them out today. I remembered a post my sister did a couple of months ago when she was in the same predicament and stole one of her ideas. Ours were MUCH lamer than Alina's, but the kids had a blast and I didn't have to run out and get any art supplies. So here is to the ridiculous things we do with our kids to pass the time!

Denise Slater Photography

I mentioned earlier that I had a friend in town from college, and while we were out with our kids she managed to get some pics of my pregnant belly. I was SO worried b/c I'm not a fan of pregnancy, but they came out so cute! Please check out her website at Denise Slater Photography. Thanks Dee!!!

the cousins...

I am increasingly becoming more and more thankful for the family the Lord has blessed us with... and the fact that they are close by.

"Mom, there are 3 of them!"

Today we were able to meet up with one of my college friends who was in town with her 3 triplet boys. The weather wasn't that great, but all the kids had a great time exploring the park. I'm sure Denise got WAY better pictures than I did, but how cute our these kids? It's so much fun to watch kids at this age get along so well, even after they just re-met for the first time in over 2 years. Thanks Denise for spending some of what little time you had with us today. If only the adults had more time to talk! Maybe we will do coffee next time.

Exhaustion + Backache + Constant Nausea + Headaches + Cramping + Over Heating + Shortness of Breath + Heartburn + Contractions + Swelling + Uncomfortableness
will = One of the greatest blessings of my life!

Very confused about the process, but very thankful for the eventual outcome!
Only 50 days or less to go!

just a normal convo

to the birthday boy

Me: "Isaac, put your shirt back on for Uncle Matt's picture"
Isaac: "I want to keep it off because Uncle Matt will think I look awesome."

always trying to find the balance.

Isaac- "Mommy, my teacher said that there are some things I can't touch because they have germs on them, so I just prayed and asked Jesus to take the germs away and then I can touch them."

I am having a hard time figuring out the balance of prayer with my kids. I want them to go to God with everything, but I don't want them to get the impression that He is just there to do whatever they want. I really thought parenting would be a lot easier than this... I want my kids to know God, end of story. Who knew that there were so many dynamics that go along with that? I think the number one prayer I have prayed since Isaac took his first breath was that God would give me WISDOM!

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

our 4-year old chocoholic

We had a very special surprise 40th birthday party for a close friend tonight.... and she is a huge fan of Hello Kitty. There was candy EVERYWHERE and in the middle of the party, the kids were given a bag to fill with their favorite candy. The kids were so geeked and were running around filling there bags with swedish fish, good-n-plenties, Hershey kisses, etc. Isaac went all over and grabbed some candy and then gave his daddy his bag. This is what we found when we got home... 12 Hershey bars! (And that was AFTER he ate dozens of Hershey kisses and a candy bar at the party) This boy is so predictable!! I think he picked up every single one available at every single table!
