Seeing OUR Baby #4

I am completely blowing my mind right now.
I had an ultrasound early this morning because of some concerns from my DR. When I got in the room, the "new tech" told me that she was still a student and that after she got me set up she would have her supervisor come in. She then mentioned that I was "very lucky to get her." I wasn't sure what she meant, until this 33-year veteran tech started to show me the pics of my baby. I couldn't believe the angles she was getting of my little boy. I have NEVER had a 2D ultrasound like this... she even mentioned that she doesn't know why people need 3D ultrasounds... I guess with her doing this, you wouldn't!

1 for the money, 2 for the show...

I've realized today that having 1 kid is so easy... relatively speaking. My life is going to change pretty drastically soon, that's for sure!

WOOD you?

A couple of months ago my cousin April and I were talking about pregnancy. She was telling me that she had heard of pregnant women craving in-edible things- for example, she knew of a lady that always wanted to smell and eat dirt. I was cracking up because I had never heard of anything so crazy, the only weird thing I wanted was to chew on ice. Until now.... I am craving WOOD! I want to buy a packet of those wooden coffee stirrers or even some Popsicle sticks and chew on them all day. What in the world? I could actually picture myself taking some bark off of a tree and chewing on it. What is happening to me? Please don't judge... I am just trying to survive this last month!

PINK!

In complete contradiction to his cousin Maddy... Isaac isn't quite sure what the color pink is. This weekend of the 4th is the perfect time for us to get our house in order and start on our baby's room. I laid out some of the stuff we have for our baby girl and Isaac didn't know what to do. On the other hand, I am SO enjoying the pinks, reds and purples. I didn't know how much I missed them until today!

Only 10 more weeks..... or less!

So, I'm officially hitting the 30-week pregnancy mark and with it came a lot more excitement. Insulin, glucometers, and test strips... oh my! Since my sweets have been cut down to a minimum, let me share with you a couple of things I wish I could have right now:

double-stuffed oreos with a toffee-nut latte, pretzel-carmel crunch, large strawberry shake, warm apple pie topped with french vanilla ice-cream with a cherry coke, a blondie with a cup of coffee, nina's snickerdoodle cookies with a big glass of milk...

Ok, so I'm not sure giving up sweets can be truly considered a "sacrifice," but you should never have to tell a pregnant lady she can't have what she's craving... she may eat you!

Like A Chinese-Cabbage...

So I am in my 28th week of pregnancy and am starting to really feel it. On babycenter.com, I was told that my daughter is the size of a chinese-cabbage. Seems about right, although she moves around like a rabbit! Unfortunately, it does look like I will be starting insulin next week. My dr. has been having me check my sugar 3 times a day, and it's getting pretty high. It's mostly a bummer because needles aren't really conducive to my lifestyle with a toddler... but I guess I can do anything for 12 more weeks. My prayer is that the Lord would give me healing where I need it, discipline where I need it and would continue to protect my baby girl.

It's going to be a LOOOOOONG summer

I have found 3 reasons why it is good to be preggo in the summer. Granted, summer hasn't even started, but I am trying to keep a positive attitude.

1. There is A TON of fresh fruit in the summer. I don't get a lot of cravings when I am pregnant, but fresh fruit is a must... but with Isaac it was really expensive and not very good. I just ate the best watermelon today!

2. I can sit outside on a lawn chair soaking up the sun, while my toddler gets all of his energy out on the squirrels instead of me. I go to the dollar store every other week and stock up on chalk, bubbles and squirt guns and my son does the rest.

3. Ok, so I could only come up with 2 reasons, but I think the fact that I am trying to see the good in this means that it's going to be a good summer!

bringing it to the surface

Flowers City

I realized with some friends this morning that I have serious insecurities and fears about having a girl. A couple of years ago, I would have thought the opposite would be true, since I grew up with 2 other sisters and never had a brother. Although I felt like a COMPLETE IDIOT for the way I was acting, I knew God was going to use it to show me somethings I didn't want to face. It's so funny how you pride yourself on the fact that God has done some great things in your life to make you more like Him, and then He again brings something to the surface to show you that you have much more work to do. Will I ever get to the place where I feel completely grown in God? I doubt it. But I don't want to shield Him from doing the surgery that needs to be done.

2 Corinthians 3:18
"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."

My Little Soccer Players...

This baby girl (who Isaac wants to name "Elmo") made me remember today what it was like to have my son Isaac inside of me a couple of years ago... like brother, like sister. It's like they are challenged to get my attention, even if it means kicking me spleen 10 times in a row. I started to go through the pics of Isaac his first week here, and realized that it was worth it... even if I have to put up with this for 15 more weeks.

It's a WHAT???

Chris and I went to our 20-week ultrasound Friday night with a boy name all picked out and ready to go... and then we got the news: It's a girl! The name we have may not work too well. To say that I am shocked is an understatement, this changes EVERYTHING. Makeup, ear piercings, nail polish, hair dye... and boys, ugh! It was nice knowing everyone, but Chris has just informed me that we will be moving to a convent as soon as our daughter is born.
