Doing things with my kids is so much fun, but every once in awhile something goes terribly wrong. I saw this recipe for making homemade ice cream in a ziplock bag, and knew that Isaac would love it. He didn't.... it totally flopped. Not only did the ice cream look like watered down oatmeal, but the salt got in it, and it got into a couple of cuts I had on my hands.
Only redemption: After I was bummed it didn't work, Isaac put his hand on my shoulder and said "It's ok mom, we can buy some later."

We have an eletric ice cream maker. I pulled it out for Mother's Day to make homemade strawberry ice cream. I mixed the ingredients and John put the container in the mixer and loaded the salt and ice. Mind you, you were suppose to use CRUSHED ice. Needless to say, the metal container kept ceasing up and John had to keep fiddling with it, grawling as he did. We did have ice cream, but now I remember why it the machine was in the basement.
If you'd like, you can borrow it.
The best part is when your kids say something sweet to you when they can tell you're bummed! Totally puts a smile on your face!
