speaking to my heart this mother's day....
"This parenting gig is all about making us more like Christ. Every nose I wipe and every midnight puke-fest refines me a little more. And as He makes me more like Him, I learn to want what He wants–for myself and for my children. I am learning to want holiness for my babies over their safety or sleeping through the night. All my worries and fears as a mom fade in the face of my desire for my kids to love Jesus: To know how selfless and good He is, how much better at loving their every breath He is than their weak mama.
What a gift to be able to trust God that much, with my most precious loves, because I know He loves them so much better than I do!"

I just let my son do WHAT?
As a mom, there are just those moments... you know the ones.... where time freezes and you wonder where all the time went. Today was one of those. Isaac's friends from school came by on their bikes and asked if Isaac could come with them.
I said yes.
There were rules... no main roads, stay in the subdivision, watch for cars, don't go in anyone's house, don't be gone for long, don't ride around by yourself, etc.
He smiled and started to pedal away.
I ran in the backyard to tell Chris what I had done and he just stared at me with a nervous smile. We knew it was time... we knew it was going to be fine.... we also knew that our son was growing into a kid, an actual kid... no more little boy... and doing things that we did as kids.
Can I be honest?
I was smiles the whole time he was gone.

our little artist... again
Once again we found out that Isaac had one of his art pieces from school displayed at the Clinton-Macomb Library for the past few weeks at the annual "Festival of Arts",
so we made a family night of it and went to view his masterpiece. Only a
select number of students from each school in Clinton Township get
chosen each year, so we were so proud of Isaac for being one of them for the 2nd time!
