Today.

Today.
As it progressed I found myself feeling more and more sorry for myself.
I had a whole house to clean for LifeGroup.
I had a dinner to make for 25 people.
I had just completed my 22nd load of laundry this week and still had 6 to go. (This may sound like an exaggeration to make my point funnier, but it's oh so true. I haven't been able to keep up remotely since I started to work on the day I usually attempt this feat)
We are having our Fall Youth Retreat this weekend, and there are a million things to do. (Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration to make you laugh)
I'm still not feeling well.
I am EXHAUSTED.
#3 wants to potty train... which in turn, makes #4 want to as well... it's a mess.
My parents and sister are out of the country doing amazing things.
My other sister has been extremely sick and is having a hard time carrying on a decent conversation.
etc, etc, etc.

Today.
I knew I needed to change my outlook.
I've been challenged this week in the area of gratitude.
The reality is that I have a community of people that come to my house every week and build me up... they challenge me... they accept me, crazy house and all... they keep me on track.... and having dinner together is one of the highlights of my week.
I have massive amounts of clothing for my children and have hardly purchased any of them. Hand-me-downs have been a lifesaver and I am so indebted to the people who have outfitted my children since their birth.
I have the amazing opportunity to go away for a weekend and have a blast with teenagers... my husband will be loving on our kids and supporting me in all ways possible.
Part of my family is on the mission field loving on kids who need it most and my sister who isn't feeling well, still came to church last night and watched my kids so I could be in the prayer meeting.

I'm still not feeling well.. and utterly exhuasted
BUT
I am so grateful.
For life. For hope. For Today.

{brain dump} session VII

February is almost over.
I still have my Valentine's day stuff in a laundry basket ready to set up.
I will put it away tomorrow... along with the new things I bought on clearance.
I'm sure I'll use it all next year... or the year after that.
I am the only one still awake in this house tonight.
I am in the middle of a TV spy series.
I am now thoroughly convinced I could be a spy.
It doesn't seem that hard.... except for the sneaking in places to plant bugs.
That would give me serious anxiety.
I already have enough anxiety just trying to sneak in my kids rooms at night to cover them without them waking up.
I could never be spy.

{brain dump} session VI

I need to find another word for exhausted... debilitated. enervated. weary.
I wish I had a lifetime supply of NeuroSun in my pantry.
Made smoothies for dinner.... cleaned up smoothies from floor for after-dinner fun.
My ears are plugged. My mouth is dry. My throat is scratchy. My head is pounding.
My brain is empty.
I am craving hot tea more than coffee today... the world may be ending.
My youngest son just said mama for the 1st time yesterday.
That might be the last time I say those words.
Went thru old pics today for a wall treatment... Chris and I have been together forEVER.
Frustrated that I can't find any of my pics from DC.
Currently listening to Rend Collective Experiment...can't wait to see them in October.
Does God ever roll His eyes?
Does He snicker?
Will we ever really grasp the amount of patience He continuously bestows?
Speaking of patience... tonight's movie night is ready to start.
Adios.

{brain dump} session V

Just random thoughts from my random brain...
This week has flown by... and dragged on... both at the same time.
I am in love with the Tommee Tippee Explora brand!
I wish my husband would record himself reading the entire Bible so I could listen to it in the car.
I definitely have dark circles under my eyes.... it might be a permanent condition.
I need to find my camera.
I can't relate to people who say they have no regrets.
I think everyone should read the book "Humility" by Andrew Murray.
God is Just... God is Love... He is both all the time.
I love when Isaac has 1/2 a day of school.
I can't wait to hang out with the girls Saturday night! (don't get to do that often)

{brain dump} session III

Brain Dump on a Tuesday
  • Why, oh why, did I feel it was a good idea to do "Dance, Dance, Revolution" last night?
  • My daughter Zoey collects rocks every time we walk to the car... the ones you find in the parking lot... the ones that are actually pieces of broken concrete.
  • I want nothing more than a ice-cold cherry limeade from Sonic. An extra-large.
  • I hate doing laundry.
  • Everyone is getting a nap today...whether they like it or not.
  • I've rediscovered Sprite.
  • I miss my stuff. My candles that I just got from Bath and Body Works and put directly into a storage bin. My Anthropologie coffee mug. My cookbooks. My sanity.
  • I don't take enough pictures of Elijah.
  • I want to go to Turks and Caicos.... and Zimbabwe.
  • I wish my hair was naturally the color of my daughter's.
  • I am going to go now and join everyone for nap-time.

{brain dump} session II

Today is Sunday.
I love Sundays.
Currently I am watching the NHL All-Star Game.
Go Team Lidstrom.
Right now I am  into the color teal.
I am also really into tomatillos.
I wish my family was into tomatillos.
I regret not straightening my hair this morning.
I also regret not folding the whites last night.
I really need to fill out Elijah's baby book.
I would much rather read a book that has nothing to do with babies.
I drank way too much coffee today.
Can't wait to drink more tomorrow.
Tomorrow is Monday.
I love Mondays.

{brain dump} session I

  1. Zoey has the HIGHEST pitched scream I have ever heard in my entire life.
  2. My son needs to learn how to wipe HIMSELF after using the potty.
  3. I have stepped on and smashed 1,211 cheerios today alone.
  4. My house smells like apple juice and soggy animal crackers.
  5. I own 27 binkies and can't seem to find one.
  6. Why in the world did I feed my daughter prunes yesterday?
  7. There isn't anything my daughter can't reach and destroy.
  8. Can you still take Motrin if it's expired?
  9. I pick the same 163 things off the floor daily.
  10. My son just found a recorder and forgets to plug the bottom hole.
  11. All my couch cushions are on the floor for the 3rd time today.
  12. Is it motherly and sophisticated to scream and thrash on the floor?
