Elijah and Jacob

 Jacob Christopher Bunk
4 months old
13 lbs.
24.5 inches
You love watching your brothers and sister and will strain your neck to see them.
You are ALWAYS smiling and you have the cutest dimples I've ever seen.
You think it's so funny when someone kisses you on the cheek... and that happens frequently.
You are perfectly content as long as you can see everything that is going on in a room.
You are our PEOPLE WATCHER and our LITTLE FLIRT and you always bring us smiles and joy.

Elijah Christopher Bunk
18 months
27 lbs.
32.5 inches
You are starting to have conversations... we aren't sure what you are saying, but you are passionate about it.
You do EVERY SINGLE THING your older brother and sister do.
You love to push buttons.... and play with cars... and cuddle with soft, wooly blankets.
Everything you pick up turns into a gun or sword.
You love taking naps... and I love that you love to take naps.
You can lay down and make yourself comfortable anywhere you are.
You want to pretend to drive our truck every single day.
You are our ADVENTURER and DARE-DEVIL and you keep us constantly entertained.

blast from the past.

The kids play with all of our old phones once we are done with them.
Here are some pictures downloaded from one.
Cracks me up!

Chris and I out on a date.... I think I had that smile all night long.

They really do love each other.
I really took a ton of these 2... that was back when I could actually remember my camera.

Lori and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

... everyone has bad days... even when you're a mom.

Realized we forgot Isaac's backpack as he was getting out of the car.
Ran to Kroger to get stuff for his lunch.
Didn't think we were getting out of the car so none of my kids had shoes on.
Tried desperately to keep my hillbilly kids in the grocery cart.
Someone had to go potty.
Got there too late.
Picked up my dad to sit in the car with the kids while I ran Isaac his lunch.
(Thank you dad!!!!)
Got home and spilled my coffee everywhere.
It's only 9:00am

I will be taking my 3 younger kids to the DR this afternoon....
I'm sure I'll have more to report after that adventure!

"Satisfy us every morning with your mercy
so that we may sing joyfully and rejoice all our days."

combinations

I've come to realize that having 4 kids is a lot of work. Who knew?
Last night our 1 year old got very sick and Chris was up with him all night long.
I ended up taking the older 2 kids and Jacob to church this morning while Chris stayed home with Elijah. This combination of kids was so much easier than any other Sunday, and it got me thinking....

Some combinations of my kids make life easier... and some make them much harder.
Let me give you some examples....

Isaac (6yr) + Zoey (3yr) = no need for a diaper bag
Isaac (6yr) + Elijah (1yr) = successful errand that takes under 15 minutes
Zoey (3yr) + Jacob (4mo) = built in babysitter
Elijah (1yr) + Jacob (4mo) = do only errands that have a drive-thru
Isaac (6yr) + Jacob (4mo) =  successful grocery shopping trip or even to the library
Isaac (6yr) + Zoey (3yr) + Jacob (4mo) = a fun trip to the park
Zoey (3yr) + Elijah (1yr) + Jacob (4mo) = a need for a 4th cup of coffee
Isaac (6yr) + Zoey (3yr) + Elijah (1yr) + Jacob (4mo) = everyday life... with my 5th cup of coffee

Rock Climbing

Today we took Isaac rock climbing with some of his friends for his birthday.
This place was so much fun!
All the kids did really great and we all had such a fun time.
Isaac wants to know when we can go again!

everyday.

Isaac's 6th Birthday

Thank you to our family for celebrating Isaac's 6th birthday with us.
He hasn't put his Legos down since last week.
I have officially decided that even just having our immediate family over STILL makes it a circus... but I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

it's a "black-sharpie-list" kind of day.

I woke up this morning in a panic.
I have mountains of things to do and don't have the time to do them.
When I do "have the time" I don't have the "quiet" I need to concentrate.
I honestly didn't know where to start.... so I started with my Bible.
OF COURSE I would read this...

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

... not knowing where he was going.

Here is a powerful excerpt from today's My Utmost For His Highest entry.
It hit me where it hurt today.

He went out, not knowing where he was going —Hebrews 11:8
Living a life of faith means never knowing where you are being led. But it does mean loving and knowing the One who is leading. It is literally a life of faith, not of understanding and reason—a life of knowing Him who calls us to go. Faith is rooted in the knowledge of a Person, and one of the biggest traps we fall into is the belief that if we have faith, God will surely lead us to success in the world.
