Cuzin Nite... Old School Style

Tonight was Cuzin Nite... even though not all of us were able to make it. We decided to go Old School and hit up CJ Barrymores. (I don't think I had been there since high school!) I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

We found a batting cage that wouldn't stop spewing out baseballs... all those years I gave Chris a hard time about softball being the same as baseball- I was very wrong!
I'm not one for excuses, but let me say for the record that I had the slowest go-kart in the history of go-karts!
The sign leading in to the bumper boats is very misleading. Instead of saying "you may get wet" it should read "you are going to have to wring out your clothes afterward because you are playing with your brothers!"I really believe that Tommy has missed his calling. Yes, he is good at ministry. Yes, he is good at soccer. But God has also given him a special talent for golf!Special thanks to Chris for staying home with our ill children so I could go out.
He is amazing!

ready for 8pm tomorrow!

I don't want to go home!

Isaac and Zoey were finally feeling a little better and both their fevers broke, so we decided to take a field trip to the park to get some fresh air. We had a yummy picnic, went on every slide, and even took a surprise trip to the First Aid. Isaac had an allergic reaction to something and his face broke out fairly quickly. After he was looked at, he got to hang out with the local sheriff, got to go in his police car and even got to talk on his walkie talkie. He wanted Isaac to make the siren go on and even offered to let him talk on the loud speaker, but Isaac was a little overwhelmed, especially b/c he wasn't feeling good. This guys was so great! All in all, it was a nice day.

Ker-Bear

To the girl who...
... stole my favorite belt almost every morning before I woke up for school
... would choke on the smell of hairspray so I had to spray my bangs alone
... would let Jeni and I try flipping her over our backs with complete trust
... would sit at the table for hours so she wouldn't have to eat veggies
... jumped off our garage roof so she could feel what it would be like to slam dunk
... would choose Joe Dumars 1st every time we played "pick your perfect NBA team"
... was obsessed with her stuffed cat, JD
... saved every single paper from elementary school in white dresser in the basement
... would sit and watch Newsies with me for the 130th time... and recite all the lines
... was always the banker
... always had the last word
... will always be my best friend
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KERI!!!

David Vence A Goliat

My parents just got back from Colombia and brought Isaac back a puzzle of David and Goliath. In predictable Isaac fashion, we had to rush inside to do it as soon as Papa and Grandma left. Once we finished, he wanted to know all about David and Goliath. I got his Bible out and we read the story. He had so many questions...
Why was Goliath so mean?
Why did David throw rocks at him?
Isn't it bad to throw rocks?
Did Goliath need a band aid?
Did David pray for him?
Did Jesus heal the giant?
Who knew that my toddler would be the person to stump this youth pastor??

Do you want the job or not, snack shack?

We had such a great weekend full of BBQ and friends, but we were very excited to have Monday all to ourselves. Chris spent the whole day with the kids outside and I organized the basement (something I've been wanting to do for a long time... still not finished!) Once the sun went down, we made breakfast, drank Orange Julius' and watched Night @ the Museum. I wish today didn't have to end.
Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Happy Memorial Day!

Loaded Morning Devotions...

Read this from Ravi Zacharias book "The End of Reason"
and was very thought provoked...

“Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”
(2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV)

If you were proposing marriage to someone, what would the one receiving the proposal say if you said, “I want you to know this proposal changes nothing about my allegiances, my behavior, and my daily life; however, I do want you to know that should you accept my proposal, we shall theoretically be considered married. There will be no other changes in me on your behalf.” In a strange way we have minimized every sacred commitment and made it the lowest common denominator. What does my new birth mean to me? That is a question we seldom ask. Who was I before God’s work in me, and who am I now?

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

Thank you Maus boys (and April) for coming over and hanging out with us today. We had a great time!
Jordan and Isaac going on a treasure hunt and sporting some very cool hair-dosIt took April and I about 2 hours to eat our meal... typical
This little princess thought the boys were crazy!
Zoey catching some rays
Cousin loveMy attempt to get everyone to settle down...
it lasted about 30 seconds
Finally time for relaxation

Go Wings!!!

I scream, you scream.... this is definitely NOT ice cream!!!

Doing things with my kids is so much fun, but every once in awhile something goes terribly wrong. I saw this recipe for making homemade ice cream in a ziplock bag, and knew that Isaac would love it. He didn't.... it totally flopped. Not only did the ice cream look like watered down oatmeal, but the salt got in it, and it got into a couple of cuts I had on my hands.

Only redemption: After I was bummed it didn't work, Isaac put his hand on my shoulder and said "It's ok mom, we can buy some later."

Medellin, Colombia

My parents are leaving for Colombia, South America tomorrow morning, bright and early. Please keep them in your prayers, as this is not the safest place they travel to. For more information on where they will be, please check out their Mantle Ministries blog. If they are able to get access to the internet, they will be updating their blog while their trip progresses.

a daddy's touch

This is what mama uses to give a bath...

and this is what daddy uses to give a bath! The boys played soccer in the mud this afternoon and came in filthy. They went straight into the bathroom, where they proceeded to laugh and yell. I wasn't sure what was going on, until I was called into the bathroom and got drenched with a super-soaker. I made the horrible mistake of then dumping a bowl of cold water on my husband and ended up locked in Isaac's bedroom for safety. (Yes, he tried to pick the lock, but I've learned over the years!) Our house is soaked, and I mean SOAKED, but Isaac had a blast. Just another glimpse into what it's like to live with Chris Bunk!

Rain D E L A Y because of the lake effect

The Detroit Tigers killed it last night, and we got to see it, well, some of it. Matt and Nina took us to the game and we weathered the storm (at least for a couple innings). It was so much fun to be out and about and to eat french fries without having to blow on them for someone else!Ordonez and I became friends a couple of years ago when I accidently bought a shirt with his name on it instead of Rodriguez... I think my sister Keri has the shirt now

It's off to work we go!

Isaac went on his first day of work with his daddy this morning. I don' t know who was more excited, Isaac or Chris! When they got back, Chris said that he did great and helped him out a lot... fetched his tools for him, put them away and even stacked everything up on the cart. Like father, like son!

the day with "aunt lo-vee"

Zoey and I spent the morning with Madeline and Christopher. We built a doghouse out of blocks, made mommy a candle holder, braided my hair and read to our dollies. What a fun day!
