Eat food, Not feet

Here is my first conversation of the day with my 2-year old son, keep in mind that I am over-the-top obsessed with my kid's feet and they both know it:

Me: Good Morning (grabbing his foot) I like your foot!
Isaac: Please don't eat it mom
Me: Why not
Isaac: You need to eat food, not feet
(side note: I think this quote might catch on)
Me: But I like your feet
Isaac: No mom, go eat breakfast
Me: Well, can I go and eat Zoey's feet?
Isaac: (thinking first) No
Me: Why not
Isaac: Because we are kids and we need our feet!

Family Fun Day: All World Gym

This week is always the craziest week of my life. We are taking the youth to our annual winter retreat this upcoming weekend, and there is an unbelievable amount of preparation that takes place beforehand. I even have a industrial size whiteboard in my kitchen with lists and lists of things I have yet to accomplish. The thing that kept me sane this year was having some time with my family amidst the chaos. Here are some videos from our family night at All World Gym.
(and if you think of me this weekend, please send up a prayer!)

It seems like no matter where we go,
Chris is tackled by people!

"I fall on my head"

Here is the boo-boo Isaac got tonight from falling down an entire flight of stairs on his head. Isaac and I were on our way to meet Chris and Zoey in the basement, when Isaac tripped and slide the whole way down face first. After I stopped screaming and pulled myself together, we asked him what hurt. He then pointed at this small spot on his thumb. What a night!

Our Bald Beauty

People always ask me why I don't put cute headbands on my daughter, especially because she is super bald. I think they are adorable, but it's just not on the top of my mind as I'm struggling to make it to church on time. Well, yesterday, in honor of Matt and Nina's new baby, we decided to put a headband on our bald beauty. When we went to get her out of her car seat this is what we found:Perfectly content.
Look at those cheeks!

5 Insignificant things I love...

WEBSITES FOR KIDS
- I love going on websites that give me ideas for things to do with my kids... a few of my favorites are Kaboose, Family Fun, Amazing Moms, Disney Family and Wondertime. I'm kind-of obsessed with them.

CHOCOLATE
- I never liked chocolate, I would choose vanilla any day.... then I had Isaac and that all changed. Now I can't get enough!

MY BED SHEETS
- I used to just have whatever sheets fit my bed, but when we purchased a new bed a few years ago we got sheets that have a 600 thread count. What a difference! I'll never be able to go back!

READING IN MY DAUGHTER'S ROOM
- My favorite devotion get-a-way in our house is Zoey's room. It's always warm and cozy, the rocker is super comfy and it smells like baby!

MY NICOLE MILLER LIP BALM
- Best stuff ever!

a BIG shout out!

He is probably going to kill me for this... but I have to give a huge shout out to my amazing husband! On Valentine's Day we were sitting around the dining room table having family time, when I accidentally dumped my cup of coffee all over our laptop. To make a long story super short... Chris fixed it! He had it in a million pieces, put it back together, and now it works perfectly! There really is no one in the world like the man I married and I am so blessed to have him (especially b/c I break things a lot!)
THANK YOU CHRIS!

Luv-Fest Conclusion

We concluded our luv-fest by surprising daddy in bed with a bonquet of balloons, luv cards and brownies for breakfast. Chris and I also had a few surprises as our kids took an interest in the things we are passionate about...

Zoey started her love of coffee

...and Isaac wanted to help daddy fix our TV.

HaPpY BiRtHdAy...

... to the most amazing mom in the whole wide world!!!

Dear Mom...
Thank you for being such an incredible mother, role model and follower of Christ. You are my inspiration not only in ministry, but also in life. You take chances, you stay stable, and even after 30 years, you are still there to lean on. I love you and hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Love your most favorite daughter,
Lori

To India, with Love

Thanks again, Uncle Tommy!

We would like to send our sincere gratitude to Isaac's Uncle Tommy, for "teaching" him how to juggle. Instead of getting pelted in the head by nerf darts, now it's plastic balls.

Luv-Fest, Day 4

Today we made our Valentine's Day Cards. Isaac was so excited to pick them out from the store (of course we got the Pixar ones!) and then to pick them out for each member of our family. It was so funny watching him decide who should get what.
(I canceled Luv-Fest, Day 3... wasn't feeling the luv)

Our Luv Scripture for today:
John 15:12
"Love one another as I have loved you."

nothing but blue skies...

The weather today was beautiful, so we picked up our cousin Maddy and headed over to Partridge Creek. We even ran into Cameron! Here's my favorite conversation of the day:
Maddy: Are you ok, buddy?
Isaac: No, Maddy, I wet
Maddy: Are you ok, buddy?
Isaac: No, Maddy, I spilled choc-key milk
Maddy: Are you ok, buddy?
Isaac: No, Maddy, my sweatshirt wet
Maddy: Are you ok, buddy?
Isaac: I NOT OK, Maddy!
Maddy: Be nice, buddy!

Luv-Fest, Day 2

Today for Luv-Fest, we made a Valentine's Day cake and matching cupcakes. Too bad they aren't low-cal!

Our Luv Scripture for today:
Psalm 86:13
"Great is your love toward me, Oh God."

I love popsicle stix!

This afternoon I was trying to think of a way to display all of our love scriptures for Valentine's Day. I got the mail and saw this in my Parents magazine. It's a little "springy" for February, but it does the trick... plus, Isaac loved putting them together!

Luv-Fest, Day 1

This week Isaac and I are having a Luv-Fest to celebrate Valentines Day. We started off by going to the library and checking out all the books we could find on love, hearts, kisses and hugs. I then asked him on the way home how I could show him that I loved him... which resulted in a drive-thru McDonalds. That kid is sneaky!

Our Luv Scripture for today:
Romans 8:35
"Nothing can separate us from God's love."

friends are friends forever...

NINA BUNK...
She is my SkipBo and Phase 10 buddy.
She is my living yellow pages and my mapquest.
She can weave in traffic better than Jimmie Johnson.
Her snickerdoodles are to die for.
She could find her way around Nordstrom Rack blindfolded.
She is such an incredible sister and friend.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEEN!

It's not a very good picture, but it was a wonderful night. Moms talking about their husbands and their kids.. and tons of chocolate. What could be better? Thanks to everyone who came out to our Mom's Nite Out!

Look what I just read...

Isaiah 6:1
"I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up,
and His train filled the temple."

Quoting my Toddler, Part 6

Isaac saw me rubbing my head this morning and asked me what was wrong. "I'm just tired, Buddy". He grabbed my hand and walked me to my bedroom. He told me to lay down, pulled the covers over and me and then left and closed my bedroom door. I then heard him saying "We need to be quiet, Zoey, mama is sleeping." If it were only that easy!!!

the 45th parallel

This weekend was our much needed get-a-way to Gaylord, Michigan. Thank you Matt-n-Nina for taking us away from our crazy life just long enough to clear our heads. We love you!
(Also, a HUGE SHOUT OUT to my in-laws for taking both of my children for the whole weekend. What a blessing!)
